The grand awarding ceremony of 68th Locarno International Film Festival was held on August 15th. Bi Gan’s first feature film Kaili Blues, won Best Emerging Director Award in Cineasti del Presente Competition and Special Mention in First Feature Competition.

China Movie Channel Media Awards were revealed on June 20th, and the film TWELVE CITIZENS by Xu Ang became the biggest winner and bagged five awards including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, and Best Supporting Actor.

The six awards of the Asian New Talent Award were revealed on June 19, and the Iranian film 13 by director Hooman Seyedi became the biggest winner and bagged two awards including Best Film.

The nine “Man of Steel” awards of the first Jackie Chan Action Movie Week were revealed on June 18, and director Wu Jing’s WOLF WARRIORS became the biggest winner and bagged four awards including Best Stunt Film, Best Actor, Best Specialty Stunt and Best Fight. Jackie stated that although he had participated in numerous film festivals, action movie filmmakers were only identified by one or two film festivals, therefore, “I organized the Jackie Chan Action Movie Week, the platform is not for me, but for every action movie filmmaker, and we wish more people will understand their dedication and hard work.”

On June 15th 2015, China Film Index hosted by entgroup was held in Renaissance Shanghai Yangtze Hotel. Zhang Hongsen, Director of the State Administration of Radio, Film, and Television, Zhang Peimin, President of China Film Foundation. More than four hundred people and two hundred film companies came to the event, including Wanda Media, Enlight Pictures, Bona Film Group, and Heyi Film. During the event, the result of “ENAwards” was announced. Hong Kong famous director, President of China Film International Stanley Tong was invited to attend and issued Best Adapted IP Award. The Vice President of China Film International Shen Yang was received Vanguard Film Supervisor Award.

In the afternoon of June 14th, China Film International·Fund was officially announced at the final part of the “China Film Strategy Conference 2015”. China Film International · Fund was co-initiated by China Film Equipment Co. Ltd, Guizhou Radio Film&TV Media Group, and Hong Kong famous director Stanley Tong, Zhang Hongsen, Director of the State Administration of Radio, Film, and Television, Zhang Peimin, President of China Film Foundation, La Peikang, Chairman of China Film Co., Ltd, Bei Zhaojian, Deputy Director of the Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture, Radio, Film and TV, and international famous actor Jackie Chan witnessed this historical moment.

On May 29th, the initial round of expert review of China Film Index “ENAwards” was held in Beijing Ritz-Carlton Hotel. The review was hosted by entgroup and invited famous Director Stanley Tong to serve as the honorary chairman. The final result will be announced on June 15th 2015 during the China Film Index that will take place in Renaissance Shanghai Yangtze Hotel.

During the Prime Minister of India’s visit, Narendra Modi, who made his official visit to China from 14th May to 16th May, witnessed the strategic collaboration agreement that has been signed between EROS and Shanghai Film Group. This collaboration will promote the development of two countries’ film markets, as well as the expansion of it. The collaboration between China and India not only explores business opportunities, but also strives towards a more industrialization and strategic way.

In the past few days, the annual Festival De Cannes had officially started. MOUNTAINS MAY DEPART directed by Jia Zhangke and THE ASSASSIN directed by Hou Hsiao-hsien is the two Chinese films that had entered into the main competition. Although, in recent two years, many Chinese films made entry into the main competition section of the three major European Film Festivals and were rewarded, most of the films were produced by famous senior filmmakers. On the other hand, Chinese young filmmakers who could enter into the Newly Recognized section became increasingly rare in major film festivals. In the face of the popularity gained by domestic commercial films, the other side of Chinese films faces emptiness that has never been seen before.

The 33rd Fajr International Film Festival was held from April 25^th to May 2^nd in Tehran, the capital of Iran. Headed by President Stanley, China Film International (CFI) was the only Chinese film Production Company that officially invited by festival. The team was welcomed by the Iran’s Culture Vice Minister and the Chairman of Film Commission Hojatollah Ayoubi. During the festival, famous Hong Kong director Stanley Tong held a master studio together with the famous Polish director Krzyszto Zanussi. Stanley shared his thirty-five year’s film creative experiences and his understanding of the action films with the international film industry and young directors.
